One of the stories that has featured prominently in the last few years of high level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been the rise of Jonathan 'JT' Torres, who has cemented himself as one of the premier black belts in the sport.
After breaking through as a contender at Lloyd Irvin's academy, the most successful period in JT's career has come since moving to Atos Jiu Jitsu, where he has racked up a plethora of titles including IBJJF European Championships, Pan Championships, No-Gi World Titles and culminating in taking Gold at the 2017 ADCC World Championships.
Whilst always being capable of competing alongside the best in the world and contending for medals, it is in the last few years that JT has begun to stand above the rest and develop his game to a level that makes him a favourite for any competition he enters.
Part of what makes JT such a successful Jiu Jitsu competitor is his positive attitude and unrelenting desire to succeed. In the video below, get an insight into the unique mindset of a champion and what drives him to pursue his sporting goals, as well as the emotions he channels to make those championship victories possible.
Having grown into a true star of the sport, we're looking forward to seeing JT continue to add his repertoire and strive to achieve more of his goals. Outside of competition, JT is now in a position where he can pass on his knowledge and skillset to his students, creating the next generation of potential champions.
